The new generations of MAN trucks from the TG-series (TGX, TGS, TGM and TGL) were presented in Bilbao on February 10th, 2020.

MAN Diesel SE was a subsidiary company of MAN SE. Through the merger with MAN Turbo, MAN Diesel & Turbo SE was created in 2010 and renamed to MAN Energy Solutions SE in 2018. MAN Energy Solutions SE is specialised in the production of marine propulsion systems, as well as the technological development in regards to the creation and storage of electronical energy.

Since MAN took over Neoplan Bus GmbH in 2001, the company exists as part of the Neoplan business group, which was merged into MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG in 2008.

 

NEOPLAN is the omnibus brand of MAN Truck & Bus. Originally, NEOPLAN was the trademark of the company Gottlob Auwärter GmbH & Co. KG, which was established in 1935 and built self-supporting busses since 1953.

TGE is the acronym for “Trucknology Generation Typ E”. This vehicle is based on the VW Crafter II (7C0) van by the VW group, which is being distributed by the MAN group.

TGX stands for “Trucknology Generation Typ X”. This series is the successor of the TGA and was first presented to the public in the fall of 2007.

TGM is short for “Trucknology Generation Typ M”. This medium-duty series of 13 – 26 tons is being marketed as MAN TGM since 2005. The design was inspired by the TGA and later the TGS/TGX model.

 

TGA stands for “Trucknology Generation Typ A”. The acronym describes a heavy vehicle series, which was introduced by MAN in 2000.

 

The MAN engines are being produced in Nuremberg, Germany.

Travel-, city- and cross country busses are being manufactured in Ankara (Turkey) and Starachowice (Poland).

The MAN TGE is being produced in Września in Polen since April of 2017.

The acronym MAN stands for Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nürnberg AG (Machine Factory Augsburg-Nuremberg AG). The company was created in 1898 through the fusion of the two operations Maschinenfabrik AG in Augsburg and Maschinenbau-Actiengesellschaft in Nuremberg and was the precursor of MAN.

The logo of all MAN vehicles depicts a stylised Brunswicker lion. Since 1971, the lion adorns the radiator grilles together with the MAN lettering. The heraldic animal was integrated out of respect for the company Büssing, which was taken over by MAN during the same year.

The roots of the MAN group reach back to 1758. Back then, the ironworks “St. Antony” was founded, the first ever heavy industry company in the Ruhr area.
